In-the-hoop projects are extremely popular, especially zippered bags. Have you ever forgotten to unzip your zipper part way before finishing the last stitch sequence of your bag? This tip will prevent you from doing that ever again!
If you have ever stitched a zippered bag in the hoop, you know that it is the easiest zipper you will ever stitch.
On the other hand, you may have had the misfortune of not moving the zipper tab to the middle of the piece before attaching the back of the bag to the front.
That means when you turn the bag right-side-out, the zipper is in the seam allowance and you can not unzip the bag.
It’s easy to get distracted, so this is bound to happen at some point in time.
This idea came from a machine embroidery social media group by way of Sandy Kleypas of Crawford, Texas. She used a stellar solution to make sure this did not continue to happen to her.
Using editing software (like Hatch or Embird) she added the words “open zipper†to her design just prior to the final step. The text was not stitched out. It was a reminder of a simple, but important step in the embroidery process.
Because it shows on screen, you saving precious time, supplies, and a lot of frustration.
How do you prevent mishaps like this from happening?
