Tips for Dazzling July 4th Embroidery

Want your patriotic embroidery projects to shine? These tips make it happen!

It is not difficult to add impact to your patriotic projects with these easy ideas.

Metallic Thread

Before you say NO entirely, take time to read this blog for tips on taming metallic thread. Often the brand is indicative of success and many boast great success with King Star metallic thread.

Start out by stitching just a few of the items in metallic thread, like the firecracker fire or stars in Fourth of July 2 from Ace Points Embroidery. Even the baubles on the zipper pull are shiny!

If you want to avoid using metallic thread at all costs, consider buying sparkling trims when creating projects such as the ITH Patriotic Wristlet from Inspiration Mutz.

HotFix Crystals

HotFix crystals, particularly Swarovski brand, add a definite sparkle to machine embroidery. Add them to the center and ends of the fireworks bursts, like this one featured in the 4th of July set from Kreations by Kara. If you do not have a wand to apply hotfix crystals, just glue them in place.

Fairy Lights

This project, 4th of July Butterfly String Lights from Embroider Shoppe, literally lights things up in a patriotic way. Designs include openings for adding string lights.

The 4th of July Appliscape from Anandas Divine Designs is such a lovely project. Consider stitching part of the applique, in this case, the corner stars using GlitterFlex. It adds just the right pop of sparkle and stands out from the background.

GlitterFlex fuses in place and can be laundered so you can applique on shirts, pillow tops or totes.
