It’s In the Bag: Machine Embroidery Purses and Totes You Will Love!

From totes to cross-body style to formal wear, a girl needs a bag for every occasion. Just use fabric and thread to match your ensemble. Here are some great projects, most of which you can stitch entirely in the hoop.

At the Beach from My Fair Lady

This is such a great bag on so many levels. With eight pockets around the outside, there is lots of room for all those little things you might need for a day at the beach, in the garden, or in the sewing room. Use the matching applique designs to embellish pockets or add a monogram instead.

Carry Me Home Italian Handbag from Enchanting Designs

This bag takes on a designer quality with its fashionable appeal. Stitch pieces, including a freestanding lace balcony embroidered on organza, and assemble with your sewing machine. Embellish with buttons for a professional finish.

Pretty Purse from Stitch Soup

Another designer-worthy creation, this purse is perfect to showcase fabric designs. It is fully lined with a front and back pocket. Panels are stitched and quilted in the hoop then assembled on your sewing machine. The flap has a circle applique that you can fussy-cut for maximum impact.

Created in the hoop, this project zipper will be one of the easiest you have ever installed. Add a shorter strap for a wristlet or a longer strap for a cross-body bag. There’s even room above the head to add a name or monogram.

Another fun bag to make, this one will be popular with your friends and family. It is fully lined and made entirely in the hoop, including quilting and zipper insertion. Personalize it with a label, if you like. They are wonderful for travel and for housing sewing and embroidery notions. Add some lotions for a pampering gift!

  1. I just purchased from secrets of emb. On my phone. First time in along time. Now can’t find my order. Hope it is with the large frame. Want to download on my computer which monitor just went out. How do I get it on my phone. Later over on computer. I have lost download link. Grrr sorry. Day will get better. Thanks

  2. You should be able to go back on Secrets and log into your account and download again. It depends how you set up your phone as to where the downloads go. Take note of the download link address that shows when the files are downloading.

  3. I ordered the butterfly clutch and when I attempt to load it into my embroidery machine I get the error message “device is not connected”. I have Hus Viking and usually get PES format, (because my next machine will be a Babylock, and I want to be able to keep using my designs). Is the design defective or should I get the HUS format also?
