Fixing Stitch Glitches

Sometimes, for a variety of reasons, stitches can have a bald spot. The quick and easy fix? Use a permanent marker.

You may not have even noticed this in the Halloween Treat Holder project. The placement stitches for the bat were stitched in white.

Because I used black organza, some of the white stitches showed through the finishing satin stitches.

Very carefully, go over the white threads with a black permanent marker to make the white stitches “disappear.”

Same for the pumpkin.

Carefully feather in “stitches” with the marker, making sure the colors match before filling in the area entirely.

These were very minor examples but the technique can help save projects that you might otherwise scrap!
