5 Reasons You Should Make an ITH Project for Christmas

Time is short. Here are five reasons you should try a Christmas gift that is made in the hoop!

This sweet Santa Snack Mat from Oma’s Place is made entirely in the hoop. That means you can whip it up at the last minute without staying up all night! Here is why you should not be afraid to give it a try.

1. Placement Stitches

Color stops on the machine show you where to place applique fabrics. Stitching also shows placement lines for adding things like borders and pockets. No measuring required.

2. Instant Seams

Once you place borders on the placement line, the seam is stitched for you. Perfect seams, every time.

3. No Finishing

If you hate having to stitch seams closed after turning projects right side out, you will love ITH designs. This one attaches the front to the back by stitching all around the outside edges. You can’t see it in the photo but, once the piece is turned right side out, the back flaps are sealed with fusible tape.

4. Perfect Topstitching

Once the pocket alignment stitches are done, just line up the pocket to attach it to the mug rug. Turn and press, and the next color stop adds a decorative topstitch.

5. Automatic Embellishing

Decorative stitching is added, along with wording. You could always leave the wording off and add a name instead. You could also just highlight a fabric print by fussy cutting the applique shape.

It is really nice to not have to use a pattern to cut out your pieces like you would if you were creating it from scratch. Also, you don’t have to worry about properly centering the embroidery within each piece. Just follow the directions for each color stop. The design is digitized to do that for you. At this point in the holiday season, I don’t know about you, but I need all the help I can get!
