Hello “Secrets Friends”

I just found the neatest  photographic gem on, where else?, National Geographic.  You have always enjoyed the magnificent pictures they have and now, they have taken those photos one step further.  Check it out.  Click once or twice on the yellow square, in a second, it will open and focus, keep doing it and enjoy what you see.

I am enjoying writing for the Computer Secrets newsletter (look at the ‘free’ tab and select Secrets Newsletters to subscribe) and am seeing that you like knowing new things about your pc.  The tips I write are not already available in my “ PC Tips and Tricks.”  My tips are ones that you just won’t find anywhere else!  Those tips and tricks will not only save you time, but money as well.

Best wishes to you and yours, Pat

Need Help Aligning Split Designs

I have split my design and am ready to stitch it out. However, I am not clear as to how to correctly align the split designs so they stitch out perfectly. Can anyone help with this? Is there a tutorial or PDF that explains this process? I understand about the alignment threads and such, just need more understanding as to how to place my centermarks and properly place the design back in the hoop once the first split is stitched out.

Thanks so much! Darlene

Hi Darlene,

Which embroidery software are you using? We have a great Embird tutorial that covers splitting designs at Secrets that could help you.

Kind regards,
Margaret

Can anyone explain corrupt files?

I just delete anything that shows up as delete, however I recently had a different experience. I had opened the design file and saved it to a memory stick, then when I tried to take it back to my computer to save it to a disk (for my machine) it came up “corrupt”. Some of the files I had even changed a few colors on when I saved them to the memory stick. So what’s going on? I have a Designer I machine and 3D software.

Thanks,

Organ Needles - Viking Diamond

Filed under: Can You Help?, Husqvarna Viking

Is it okay to use Organ Needles in the Viking Designer Diamond Sewing Maching?????????  We have been told not to use them because they are a little bit too long.  And, since I have the Diamond - I would like to know the answer to this.  Thank you - Yvonne.

Hi,

This is a general rule for sewing machines:

“Machines sew better when you use Schmetz in European made machines, Organ for Asia made and Brazil for Singer made, which is also what they are timed with at those factories.”

I only use Schmetz in my Pfaff and Husqvarna viking machines,  but ALL overlockers are made in Asia so the organ needles would be fine for any overlocker or Asian made sewing machine.

Hi,

I know I have read this somewhere in here before….but I bought a Pfaff 2170 and I have no driver software to upload to my computer so that it can read the 2144 usb port.  Can someone direct me to the specific place to go to download that software….someone said it before…I am pulling my hair out!  Thanks - Donna:)

Hi Donna,

After searching our blog site thoroughly, I found this post which may be the one you remembered seeing previously - Pfaff Cables/Drivers.  I hope this helps.

Monster Bash Tote and Play

SewAZ Embroidery’s new Monster Bash Tote & Play set is a must have project for Halloween and would make a great table centerpiece with the freestanding party goers and lots of scrummy candy scattered around. Or it could be trick or treat bag with the addition of an extra hook and loop at the bottom of the opening. Use glow in the dark thread for the lettering and all the white designs!
