Can anyone explain corrupt files?
I just delete anything that shows up as delete, however I recently had a different experience. I had opened the design file and saved it to a memory stick, then when I tried to take it back to my computer to save it to a disk (for my machine) it came up “corrupt”. Some of the files I had even changed a few colors on when I saved them to the memory stick. So what’s going on? I have a Designer I machine and 3D software.
Thanks,

Corrupt files happen usually because of a problem in the software itself. However, since you were saving the files to a memory stick, the corruption can happen because of the FACT that you are saving to a memory stick rather than a hard drive. You can try a workaround that may help with this and keep your files from becoming corrupt.
Try saving to the harddrive (C:\) or the desktop FIRST. Then copy or move the file to your memory stick. I have found that by doing this, I don’t have corruption on my files. It happens in many different software applications, not just 3D software. Sometimes the computer’s memory does it, and sometimes the software itself has a problem. If it is only occurring when you save from just 3D software and no other software, it could be a problem in the 3D software. If you suspect that, you can uninstall and reinstall the 3D software and see if that fixes the problem. Or you can call technical support for the 3D software and discuss it with them. I have been a tech support person for 15 years and have experienced this alot. Try these simple steps and see if that works.
Good luck!

I am wondering if the ‘return to pc’ software does not recognize a format for embroidery.
Did the file save? Sometimes they will save and with the proper software, be workable. I personally have never had this experience, so I am uncertain as to how to guide you.
I do recommend playing with it a little bit, you may just stumble on something really interesting.

Thanks for the help. I have it happen of some of the free designs also. I always save to a temporary file on my hard drive then send it to my memory stick to the correct storage category. I couldn’t understand why I had been able to open it and then it was corrupt. Well, I guess we all learn everyday.
Thanks again.
