Organ Needles - Viking Diamond

Filed under: Can You Help?, Husqvarna Viking

Is it okay to use Organ Needles in the Viking Designer Diamond Sewing Maching?????????  We have been told not to use them because they are a little bit too long.  And, since I have the Diamond - I would like to know the answer to this.  Thank you - Yvonne.

Hi,

This is a general rule for sewing machines:

“Machines sew better when you use Schmetz in European made machines, Organ for Asia made and Brazil for Singer made, which is also what they are timed with at those factories.”

I only use Schmetz in my Pfaff and Husqvarna viking machines,  but ALL overlockers are made in Asia so the organ needles would be fine for any overlocker or Asian made sewing machine.

Never heard that one and I have a Diamond
I’ve always used Organ needles without a problem. I just compared them to Schmetz (I also use) and they are the same length. Hope that helps

I have used organ needles on my Diamond I was having problems with the thread coming off the take up lever the shop were I purchased my machine said the problem was the organ needles then the type of prewond bobbins I was using then it was the type of stablizer I was using After talking to people on the diamon list on yahoo I figured out I needed to thread the take up lever from left to right not right to left since then no problems with organ needles at all

I also have a Diamond and have used Schmetz needles which have been fine but have now been recomended the Inspira neeldles. The latter seem to have rounded edge to the eye therefore the passage of the thread is very smooth. The embroidery needles have a larger elongated eye. I do not have anymore trouble using metalic threads. Inspira are now my preferred choice.
I cannot comment on the organ needles for the sewing machine, however I use them in my overlocker.

I’ve used Shmetz & Organ Titanium needles w/o any problems whatsoever & I have the Designer SE as well as an older Pfaff 7570! Out of habit, I always check the length, to be sure (you hvae to make sure you have an original needle on hand). I DO like the Titanium needles because they really do last longer, being less subject to friction wear. I haven’t yet tried the Inspira, but have had issues w/ metallic thread even w/ a metallic needle, so I may have to try that brand. Great conversation!
