Beta testing for Embird Studio V6

I have been sitting in my office for what seems like forever, writing the next Studio tutorial for version 6. The tutorial is going well but it is very large as Studio has such a lot of fabulous tools and new and exciting things to play with now. The tutorial is currently at over 700 pages with more still to come whereas my last Studio tutorial was not quite 600 pages. You can see why I have been so busy.

I will not be able to release my new tutorial until the latest version of Studio that is currently being beta tested is given the okay for release. I am not sure when that will be but it cannot be too far away. This is just a little snippet of things to come – automatic outlining and also a corner command like that in Embird Editor.

Shown below is a little image of a design I created using the auto outliner and the corner command. I used some clipart which I opened in Studio and then click, click and it was done and another click click and it is an instant border.

I will explain how to do this in my new tutorial when its released. That and much much more -
Oh well, back to work – the tutorial is calling.

I am a longarm quilter & MQR robot and am very interested in Loes new Art N Stitch program. but then I saw some new features coming out in Embird Studio. I already own Studio.
My question: Will Studio have the capability of digitizing long arm quilting designs and laying out a complete quilt? I would appreciate your comments. thanks Ella

Hi Ella

Embird now has the capability of saving designs in a number of quilting formats. They are CMD, CQP, HQP, IQP, MQR, PAT, QLI, SSD, and Txt files. I assume that the MQR format is the one that you are referring to.
If you are going to be laying out a quilt I would suggest using the Workspace feature on Embird Editor.

However it does have a limit to the size. The maximum size for the page layout is 2 meters x 2 meters. I am not sure of you intend using embroidery designs for the layout or something like EQ designs but just be aware that 2×2 meters is the field limit.

I hope that helps but if I can be of more help to you please do not hesitate to email me again.

Kind regards

Hi Carolyn,

You mention above that the quilting formats are already available, are these just in the beta version or is there an upgrade that allows these. I’m (im)patiently waiting for v6 of Studio. Any news?

Regards
Jean

Hi Jean
The quilting formats appear to have just been included in the version we are currently beta testing so you will have to wait until the new version is released, I am sorry. However it will be worth the wait, I can assure you – especially for Studio where there are a number of lovely new features. We have no idea when the next release of Studio will be sorry! I know that it’s like waiting for Christmas but beleive me, it will come.

Kind regards

As an aside to these comments, I cannot beleive that it was almost a month ago that I wrote the first post at the top of this blog about sitting in my office writing the Studio tutorial. Well, that month has almost passed and here I am – still writing the tutorial. Believe me, I started that tutorial long before that first post above as well. It’s one of those ones that feel as if its never going to end but at last I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And then its all new videos to make as well. But I am sure you will enjoy it as there are a lot of changes in Studio and some great fun new things as well.
