3D Software and Windows 7

With the release of Windows 7 due in October the official position on the 3D software at September 2009 is:

“The 3D Embroidery system was developed to operate on Windows XP computers. We cannot guarantee that the 3D embroidery software or previous versions of embroidery software will function correctly on Windows 7. There are no other adjustments to the 3D Embroidery system in respect to Windows 7. We recommend using your 3D Embroidery software on a Windows XP computer. Please note that the 3D Embroidery System is NOT compatible with any Windows 64bit Operating System. Please visit your authorized dealer to learn more about the 4D Embroidery software. It is compatible with Windows XP,Windows Vista and Windows 7.”

Windows 7 will be a refined version of Windows Vista so any Windows XP user migrating to Windows 7 will find the kind of device compatibility issues that users encountered migrating to Vista.  SVP finally released the drives for Vista so lets hope they will work for Windows 7.

Praise for Secrets

I have purchased several tutorials, downloaded several free tutorials, by far the easiest to understand and follow have come from the all the folks at Secrets. I have used PE-Design since version 4 and upgraded it several times, recently I purchased Embird Editor and Manager, Studio, Font Engine and Carolyn Keber’s tutorials, it has been the best purchase by far for my embroidery. Many thanks to Carolyn for the multitude of hours she has spent compiling the tutorials.

My advice to all “newbies” is to explore the Secrets site, here you will find excellent information covering all aspects of embroidery, excellent tutorials, and beautifully digitized designs, along with very helpful people. Anything you purchase will be well worth the money spent. There is a saying “you get what you pay for” at Secrets you get that and so much more. Many thanks to all the folks who maintain the site, write the tutorials, provide designs for purchase or free downloads. You are a group of very talented and special people. Secrets is my first stop for any embroidery question whether it be software tutorials or a beautiful design.

Kindest regards,

Trendy Trash Tote

The new Trendy Trash Tote Tutorial from Too Cute Embroidery shows how easy these projects are to make and fun to personalize. Drive in style while keeping your car tidy. Line with eco-friendly vinyl or use disposable bags. Hang from your shifter (gear stick) or from the headrest to keep what you need handy. The kids can use one for day to day essentials, and for long trips pack snacks, drinks, anything they’ll need to keep them happy.

3D Card Reader/Writer Connection Problem

I am running Windows XP and cannot get my 3Dcard reader/writer to connect. The error message says it can’t find it. I took it to my dealer, works just fine on her PC. So something isn’t right on my computer. I had this happen before, and found a solution, but didn’t keep it (dumb, I know!). It was a program glitch. I had to remove everything when I re-located my computer. All the USB’s are in the same place they were before but now it won’t work. Very frustrated that my dealer is no help. - Sarabelle

Lessons Wanted

Can anyone help me? I have An Iris and reader writer and memory cards and CD’s and just about everything that you can use with this machine but I need some help to get it to work as an embroidery machine. The Iris works excellent for sewing anything and everything but I do not have instructions on how to make everything work. As for going to a dealer in the area, I have Joan’s tells me if I didn’t buy it from them we won’t work with you. I can trade it in and they will be happy to help and teach me about my machine but no go with teaching me the way it is to work as a embroidery machine.

If anyone can help me out I am in Tinley Park, IL and I am willing to travel to get this help and willing to pay also for the lesson.

Thanks - Linda

Filed under: Can You Help?, Husqvarna Viking

I have a Viking Rose, card reader/writer, blank disk, and Designer 3, but I have been afraid to jump into using them. Does anyone know of a web site that offers tutorials or just some good information about getting started? I keep looking at designs. I’ve even bought a couple, but they’re just collecting dust.

Husqvarna 4D Automatic Jump Stitch Command

Filed under: Can You Help?, Husqvarna Viking

Could someone please tell me how to add the automatic jump stitch command to an existing design using the 4D program?  I have my Husqvarna Diamond machine set to cut jumpstitch, but I need to be able to add the command to existing designs.  I know that there should be a “button” for this, but it is just not there.

The machine handbook says to use this function but there is no mention of it in the 4D manuals or tutorials. I have sent a request to Husqvarna in Australia but have not received a reply.

Any help would be appreciated.

Noelle
