Bernina 630 and Embird

Hello. I am upgrading from a Bernina Deco 600 to a Bernina 630. Yippee. However, I do have several PES files that I have purchased. I do have Embird v8 (ok… I took a break from embroidery stuff while raising 3 sons and now baby is off to college and I have time to sew again) Anyway, I plan to upgrade to newest Embird and was wondering if I can use Embird to convert PES files to EXP or DST to use with the 630.

Thank you so much!

Mary Alice :)

You can certainly use Embird to convert your PES files to EXP or DST. The only format Embird can’t convert to is ART, as Bernina holds the rights to this format.

You can purchase your upgrade to the latest version of Embird from here.  Once you receive your new password, uninstall your old Embird, then download Embird 2012 from here  and enter your password to register the program according to the instructions that come with your password email.

If you have any problems, just send us an email and we will be happy to assist.

Help with software for Pfaff 300e

I recently moved and after I set up my sewing area, I couldn’t find my software to my Pfaff 300e! I have it set up and my computer attached to it. When I click on the icon to my machine, it wants me to insert the cd. Which I can not find! I have spent hours looking for it. Any suggestions on how I can bypass this?

Managing hoops in Embird

Is it possible to catalogue the hoops I own in embird so that I do not have to go through the selection each time I use a design. I would enter only the sizes I own.
Thank you

There is currently no way to have a list of favorite or most used hoops in Embird. As the hoops are all in order of manufacturers I guess that the Embird authors have not felt the need to add a list of favorites. Also the last used hoop is underlined until the Clear Hoop History command is used.

Kind regards

Praise for Royal Elephant Project

Hi Ananda,

My name is Morag Lewer and I live in Bryanston, Johannesburg, South Africa.

I was so taken with your ‘Royal Elephant’  which I am delighted to say I have completed and LOVED the project!  That’s with thanks to you!

My interpretation is somewhat different:

I used metallic satin fabric to create  the Elephants – in some instances, I edited some of the pieces to combine them into one hooping.   They were then stitched onto black velvet as my backing. I took a photograph of one of my lamps from which I digitised the columns in my 5D Software and stitched them on red velvet in 3D as well.

I used Sue Box Metallic Thread Jewels for the arches which were embellished with Swarovski Crystals. For the border, I used Embroidery Library’s ‘Mehndi Peacock Accents, which I edited to create an ‘endless’ embroidered border.  That was a real task and comprised 32 hoopings and about 700,000 stitches on black upholstery suede.

Besides the fact that I stitched one of my fingers to the project and was ‘stabbed’ and ripped by the pins due to the weight of the project, I am pleased to say that I finally reached my goal!

I thank you for your ceaseless creativity and now wish to embark on several of your other projects which I have bought over time from Secrets of Embroidery.

This was without doubt an exciting project!

I wish you well and with sincere gratitude!

Writing on Small Areas

What font or fonts would be suitable for writing in a running or bean stitch and would be a non-satin stitch? I’m thinking of writing on small areas such as labels or small messages.

Hi,

The most versatile lettering designs we recommend are the Embird Alphabets. For more information, have a look at our Embroidery Tips page on Lettering.

For more general Embird information, go to this link.

Viking Designer SE unzipped designs don’t appear in 5D Organizer

I purchased a new computer and am now running Windows 7 which previously I was running XP with my 3D software. I was forced to a purchase of 5D because of the new computer. Deinstalled 3D and installed 5D not sweat.l As I routinely do with the old computer and 3D I purchased designs and either use the vendor’s URL to download or have designs sent to email for downloading. Either way I use WinZip to unzip and save to my design folder.

On the hard drive I can see the designs with all the same extensions as my other designs but none of them show up in the 5D Organizer as thumbnails when I access my software. These designs are saved as .vip or .vp3 so I’m really VERY frustrated in not being able to see these designs and therefore can’t send them to my machine for stitching. Any help would be so appreciated as I am beginning to dream about this problem.

Hi,

You probably just need to have the file association linked into 5D Embroidery. In 5D Organiser go to Edit/Preferences/File types and select All Embroidery.

If this does not work you will need to go to the Control Panel/Programs/Default Programs/set associations manually  select 5D Embroidery as the software to use.
