Special Design Memo:
This stunning alphabet originates from the 1860's and it was meant to be used as "initials for pillow-case".
These letters were published in 1866 in Peterson's Magazine. The A, B, C & D were published in March 1866. E, F, G, I were published in April 1866. H & J in May 1866. K & L in June of 1866. M, P, N & O were published in July, 1866. Q & R in August, 1866. S, T, U, V in September 1866 and W, X & Y in October, 1866.
Please note that there wasn't a letter Z, it's been created by the digitizer, Tiina Connors.
These letters were so special that the ladies of the day had to continue to buy the magazine to get the full alphabet!
This alphabet was also published in June 1866 and again in 1867 in the Arthur's magazine.

A very special thank you goes to my embroidery friend Karen Verschoor for making me inspired and for so generously sharing the contents of her precious magazines!
