Linda has been working on a different kind of reverse applique, one where the overlaid fabric is not cut away. She has called this technique Overlay The Applique. It uses lightweight, see through fabrics which are overlaid on top of the appliqued pieces and then detailed stitches are done on top of the overlaid fabric. Cotton batiste works the best, but you can use other sheer see-through fabrics too.
Baby Colors has 10 darling baby designs for a 4x4 hoop. Complete color instructions on how to Overlay The Applique are included. These designs can be used as regular color work by beginning to stitch with the detail colors.
