Creating Underlay for a Whole Design (for Studio V4 & above)
A free tutorial for Carolyns Club Members from "My Account" area.

The stability of an embroidery design is very important when stitching. Creating an embroidery design with a number of objects in it, each with their own seperate underlay, does not always create the best stabilization for your embroidery design.

In this lesson Carolyn shows you how to create underlay for a whole design in Embird Studio using existing objects you have already created. You will need to be a little familair with the tools of Studio already to use this lesson.

Creating Stabilizing Grids for Designs (for Studio V3 & above)
A free tutorial for Carolyns Club Members from "My Account" area.

Have you ever stitched out a design and found that the outline is "off" - away from the edge of the design - leaving a gap between the fill and outline. This can be caused by a number of factors and is not always the result of a poorly digitized design.

Some of the causes can be:

  • The same direction of fill used throughout the design.
  • Improper hooping.
  • Improper stabilizing
  • A stretchy fabric

In this lesson you will learn how to create a grid in Embird Studio so that you can save it to your machines memory. Once you have created the grid you will then be able to adjust the size of this grid for every hoop size that you have for your machine and save it in the memory fo your embroidery machine. This way you can "call up" your gird and use it before stitching out any design you wish - especially those with outlines

Creating Basting Stitches for your Machine Hoops (for Embird 2004 & above)
A free tutorial for Carolyns Club Members from "My Account" area.

In this tutorial you will learn a very simple way to create your own basting files for each of your machine hoops. Then you can save these basting files to your embroidery machines memory. This way you can easily call up the basting stitches, for the hoop you are using, when you go to stitch out your design.

When you use basting stitches before stitching your design out, you know your design will be safely secured to your hoop and fabric. As the basting stitches are stored in your machines memory, you can use them over and over again.

Creating Basting Stitches *Embird 2004 $6.95
