Lavender Sachet Project By Robyn of Emileigh Designs
http://www.secretsof.com/embroiderytips/emileigh
This month I have been asked to contribute a few ideas for the embroidery tips. Because this is the Christmas newsletter I have just a couple of tips and a special project for you to use. What to do when your embroidery jumps out of the hoop. How many times has this happened I ask you? Too many times for me I can tell you and I have found that if I place a bulldog clip on either side of my hoop at the front, it saves my work over and over again. Placement of continuous designs By printing your template on Clear Parchment Paper (It is sometimes referred to as Velum) it is very easy to see where to place the next design because you can see through for perfect positioning and for continuation of the design. Further to this if you use magic tape to stick the template on to your material before placing it into the hoop you will find it is easier to get perfect positioning of your material in your hoop. Lavender Sachet Project I would also like to contribute a little idea for you to make. It is a Lavender Sachet and it would make a lovely small gift for someone special. I have also included a free design for you to incorporate into this project. Click Here to download. This design is part of my new set coming soon called Floral Delights. Here is a picture of a finished Lavender Sachet Embroider the sample design on a piece of Satin or similar material Using the embroidered circle as a guide cut around leaving a seam allowance of approximately 1.5cm or 5/8" (cut two, one embroidered for the front and one not embroidered for the back. Using the embroidered circle again as a guide sew gathered lace around the circle with the gathers facing into the center of the circle Placing the two pieces of material face to face and join together leaving a gap to allow for the lavender or Pot Pouri to be placed into the sachet Close the opening and sew a loop to the top and add a little bow to finish off. Enjoy this project. Robyn of Emileigh Designs http://www.secretsof.com/embroiderytips/emileigh |
