Downloading Designs with Janome

If the design you downloaded was not a .sew file you are now going to need a File Conversion program such as Embird.  Janome only allows you to open a Janome file in their program.

For the sake of this lesson, I will assume that you either have an embroidery design in .sew or were able to convert the design.  We are now going to open the design in your software program and write it to your blank card.

Opening the design and writing it to your blank card.

1.     Place your Blank embroidery card in your Janome Reader/writer box

2.     Turn the Reader/writer box on

3.     Click on the Start button at the bottom of your screen.

4.     Scroll up to Programs

5.     Point to Personaliser 2000 or Scansoft PC.

6.     Move to either Easy Import or Easyscan.

7.     Easyscan will open onto the screen. (For this lesson I will show you the examples from Easyscan, however Easy Import is almost the same and you should be able to follow easy enough.)

Move to File on the Menu bar

Scroll down to Open or use the Open icon on the Tool bar

A screen similar to this one will open

In the Look in drop-down box,  navigate to where your downloaded design is stored.

In my example it was C:/ Embroidery/Teddy Bears

Make sure the drive letter is correct in the Look-in box.   If not, use the drop-down box to change it.

I double-clicked on the Embroidery folder

Then, scrolled along to the Teddy Bears folder and double clicked on it.

I can now see my converted design beary.sew

18.  Double click on your design file or click on it and click Open - the design will open in your software program with the following box over it.

This sign will come up. (This warning sign comes up as the program is looking for the bitmap that was used for creating this design. The bitmap is not needed for you to use this design)

Click OK.

Your design will open on your screen.

Your screen should now look like the one above.

Sending Your Design to the Card

1.     Go to ScanCard on the Menu Bar

2.     Move to Send design or

3.     You can use the Send icon on the Tool bar

4.     This screen will now appear

5.     Click on Start

This screen will now appear

This screen will follow immediately after the above screen.

When the design has finished loading to your card, the Send Stitch data boxes will disappear off your screen.

You may now turn off your Reader writer box and remove the card.

You should move to your machine and sew it out as you have finished your lesson.

Now you can watch your design from the Internet sew out.

Congratulations

Footnote

These notes were written as a simple guide to getting your first design downloaded from the Internet and loaded onto your blank card so that you can sew it.

In both Janome programs they also have programs called Personaliser 2000 Easy Edit and Scansoft PC Easylayout. These are both used for sending more than one design to your card at one time. I have not included notes on them as they will be included in separate booklets still to come for these programs.

However should you wish to try loading more designs at once, one your own, the trick is to remember that each file must be Imported into your program Have a play around with it. That is the only way you will learn.

I hope this lesson has helped and that you have a wonderful time with all your new designs.

Happy embroidering.
