Internet to Machine

Internet to Machine - PE Design/Palette

(Downloading Designs)

Some embroidery software programs only allow you to import a design in that format, yet others will allow you to Import other types of files and then convert them to your machine type.

The PE Design/Palette software allows you to Import some other software designs into your Layout and Editing.

Opening the design and writing it to your blank card.

OpenPE Design/Layout and Editing by clicking the shortcut on your Desktop.

  1. Click Start

  2. Scroll up to Programs

  3. Point to PE Design

  4. Scroll across to Layout and Editing

  5. Point to File

  6. Click on Open

This screen will open.

For this lesson I will open a file called beary.pes that I downloaded from the Internet. I have already unzipped it and saved it to a folder called Teddy Bears, which is a sub-folder of Embroidery.  As it is already in my format (.pes) I can open it straight into my program.

If you are using another software program and your design is not in your machines format you will need a Conversion program such as Buzz Catalog or Smartsizer.  See my other booklets for easy use of these two programs .

I  double-clicked on my Embroidery Folder then double-clicked on my Teddy Bear folder.

This moved the Teddy Bear folder to the Look In box and you can see the Beary file displayed in the window.

Double-clicking on your design file will open it.

If you wish to see everything in this folder click on Browse and all your files will be displayed on the screen

The file you downloaded will now be displayed on your screen in Layout and Editing.

Writing to the Card

Insert your Blank card firmly into your Reader/writer box

Now go to

1.     File

2.     Scroll down to Write to card

3.     Or shortcut by clicking on the Write to Card Tool on the Menu Bar

4.     This box will appear on your screen

5.     Click OK

A box will pop up asking you to wait a few moments and then this last box will appear

Click OK

Remove your card

Place it in your machine and away you go.

That’s all there is…from Internet to machine.

Footnote

With the Brother/Palette program there is an alternative to Writing to card through Layout and Editing.

This is done through File Utility which is another of the programs that comes with PE Design/Palette,and you can fit more than one design on the card at a time. The total limit on the card is 55,000 stitches.

Place your blank card in your Reader writer box.

To do this you need to Open File Utilty.

Use the Desktop shortcut or Start/Programs/PE Design/File Utility.

This screen will appear.

You are going to Write to Original Card

Click on the arrow

You will now need to go to the folder where your designs are keep.

Select each of the designs you want to write and the select Write or you can Preview the designs before you write them as well. You may need to do this if the design has an unusual file name and you want to check that it is the correct one.

The program will warn you that All Original designs will be deleted

Click OK

The designs will then write to your card

Click OK when they are finished.

Remove your card and have fun sewing out your design.

That's it -it wasn’t that hard after all. Was it?
