How do I download Embird?
You can download the trial version of Embird from this link.  If you are having trouble downloading the program or it is showing as a corrupt file try disabling your Antivirus and Internet Security programs before downloading as these can corrupt the download file.  Also ensure the program is called embrd2k10b88c.exe  Sometimes the .exe gets removed from the file name and you need to rename the file and add the .exe to install it. Click Here for more detailed information

How do I register Embird?

More detailed Registration Help & FAQs here.

I first downloaded Embird from the Embird site, can I now register from Secrets Website?
We are an agent for selling Embird and sell on behalf of the Embird company.  All our orders are forwarded on to Embird and they keep a record of your registration and send the passwords out.  You can certainly register any Embird products through our site - in some cases you will find our prices are discounted.

Double click on the saved installation file to begin the installation process and allow it to unzip into the proper folder (default folder is recommended). Click Here for more detailed information

How do I enter my password into Embird 2010?
Run Embird. When Embird starts, it will warn you that your copy is not registered and that it is going to expire in 30 days. Then it will ask you if you want to register right now. Choose "Yes" and copy your password into the box that appears on the screen. Press OK. If you have entered the correct password, Embird will start and you will see your name in the blue bar at the top of window. Another way of invoking the registration box is to go to Help, then Registration. More detailed Registration Help & FAQs here.

Where is my Password?
Once you have ordered your Embird registration from the Secrets website, your order is immediately sent on to the Embird Company.  The password  for your registration will be sent by email from the Embird company within one business day with full instructions on how to register your new program.  Passwords are not available for download.

If you haven't received the password in this time y
ou may have a spam, junk or some other mailbox filter set up that has blocked the password email from Embird from making it into your Inbox. Please check your filtered mailboxes if you have any and also that you can receive files with attachments, and your mail box isn’t blocking them.  Sometimes ISPs also block all emails from outside the US

It is possible to test whether you can receive email from Embird, and also to check the status of your password delivery at this Embird website:    http://www.embird.com/messages.htm   Information on this web site is created automatically  together with the generation of your password.

When I enter the registration password, it says "invalid password".
Use the clipboard method for copying the password from the email you have received from the Embird Company into your Embird program.  Select the password in the e-mail by dragging your mouse cursor over the password (hold down the left mouse button while dragging). The selected text should now be highlighted. Push Ctrl and C buttons on your keyboard simultaneously.  This will then copy the password onto your computer's clipboard. Start Embird and go to Help, then Registration. Put your cursor in the password box and push Ctrl and V buttons simultaneously. This copies the password from the clipboard. Click on Register.

I inserted password into Embird, but Embird is still demo version.
Please check following:

  1. The name of your password file is PASSWORD.KLC. Sometimes this name is changed and the password won’t work. You will need to rename the password to the correct name before using it.
  2. Check if you saved the file PASSWORD into the proper folder (default folder C:Program filesEmbird 32 )
  3. When your Embird program is registered successfully your name will show in the blue bar on the top in Manager.  Click here to see how to enter your password into Embird.

I have just downloaded Embird and receive a message that the program has expired.
If you have previously downloaded the trial version on to your computer, you will not be able to run the full demo version again.

However, there are features you should still be able to access. On your computer, click on My Computer, then Local Disk C:Program FilesEmbird 32Files. You should be able to access the embroidery designs that are included with the Embird program files, and use these to trial in the demo version.

How do I reinstall Embird after a computer crash, or to a new computer?
You do NOT need to re-order.  You just need to download and install Embird and the plugins again from our Embird download page, then enter your passwords as you have in the past.  If you don't have a back-up copy of your passwords, you will need to write to the Embird company at embird@embird.com  with your registration name and email address details so they can resend them to you.

How do I upgrade to Embird 2010?
Embird 2010 is available at a special upgrade price for registered users of Embird 2006. Embird 2010 is a free upgrade for registered users of Embird 2008. All upgrade prices, and detailed step-by-step information on how to upgrade, can be found here

How do I upgrade my existing plug-ins?
Your passwords for plug-ins will be preserved, and are automatically activated with your new Embird 2010 registration. You will need to download and install the plug-ins files for Embird Studio, or any Alphabets separately to the Embird 2010 file.  There is no additional cost to upgrade the plug-ins when you upgrade to Embird 2010.

How do I update my Embird 2010 to the latest build?
We recommend that you disable any Antivirus and Firewall programs before downloading.  These programs will sometimes rename the downloaded installation file and remove the file extension from the end, which should be EXE. If this happens and your computer asks you which program to open the file with, just right click on the embrd2k10b88c file and choose Rename from the menu.  Rename the file to embrd2k10b88c.exe and then you should be able to double-click on it to install it on your computer.

  • Download the latest Embird from here.
  • Choose where you would like to save the program to - usually My Computer/C:/Program files/Embird 32 , then the download process will begin.
  • When it is completed, click on Run and the installing process will begin.
  • Follow the prompts to uninstall your current Embird program and save your password (save to your C: drive).
  • After you have uninstalled, you will need to restart your computer and continue with the installation of build 8.8c (if it doesn't start automatically, locate the files under the path your downloaded to above).
  • Your password will be re-entered automatically and you should find when you open Embird it will now be the new build with your name on the blue title bar (when in Manager).

Can I use Embird on a second computer?
Yes. Embird can be installed on a second computer that belongs to you as long as both programs on the two computers are not used simultaneously.  You need to just use the one you are currently working from.

The first thing you need to do to install Embird on another computer is to download the demo program again onto your second computer and install the program.

To back-up your passwords open your registered Embird, go to Help and then Passwords. Now back the passwords up to a CD. Then open the unregistered version of Embird on your second computer, go to Help and then Passwords and recover them from the disk.

All my photos open in Embird. How can I stop this?
The reason your photos are opening in Embird after you have installed the program is because you have inadvertently allowed a box to be checked - upon installation of Embird - that tells Embird to open the images instead of your graphics program.

However, this option can be reversed in Embird Manager. This is what you need to do: Open Embird Manager. Go to Options on the Menu Bar. Select Iconizer Settings. Click on the button "Remove Image Type Files". Click OK. Also, check down the bottom left of the screen and make sure that the box "Verify these file Associations when starting Embird" is not checked.

How can I learn more about using Embird?
We recommend you use a tutorial -  i
f you really want to learn your program and get the most out of it, we would suggest you look at Carolyn Keber’s tutorials.   They are extremely popular and are very informative and easy to follow.  You can also order a CD with step by step videos to watch.

Iconizer FAQ

Setting up Iconizer
The plug-in for Iconizer is included with your download of Embird 2010.  You don’t need to download an additional plugin file.  The registration of Iconizer is additional to the Embird registration though. Click here for more detailed information.

How can I retain the ability to double click and have the design open in the respective software as before Iconizer? After installing the Iconizer plug-in, I lost the ability to double click on the file and have it open in associated software. the double clicking on the design always opens in Embird.

There are 2 solutions possible:

  1. Run Embird, click on Options -> Iconizer Settings and uncheck the extension in the dialog box that appears on the screen.  This will allow all files with th extension you have unchecked to be opened in another embroidery program.
  2. Open the design in Embird, but once Embird is launched hit CTRL+O key. This will then launch the software which was previously associated with the file extension before installing Iconizer and you will be able to view the designs with your preferred software.

I can no longer see my design file icons as images.
You may need to change some of your Iconizer settings to enable Iconizer. Open Embird Manager and go to Options on the Menu Bar and choose Iconizer settings. Make sure that Select All is checked in each of the Iconizer settings boxes. Click OK before exiting the screen.
