Frequently Asked Questions when using Pre Design.
I have Pre-Design version 2. How much is the upgrade to version 3.
Owners of Pre-Design 2 can upgrade free of charge to version 3. Download the free trial. Uninstall version 2 and install version 3. Your current Personal Key will be recognized by version 3.
I cant find my personal key to unlock the software.
Re-register by sending us the serial number of Pre-design. See Registration page.
Where can I find the free Pattern Samples.
After installation of the Pre-Design software, the sample drawings are in the folder Pattern Samples, inside the Pre-Design 3 program folder.
The program crashes when I am tracing a bitmap.
The background image you are using is probably too large in file size. It should be well under 1 MB! Convert it to a jpg file and be sure to scan at a low resolution (72 dpi max).
The program crashes when I am drawing a complex shape.
Check the size of your drawing (Select all, right-click and choose Size). Set it to at least 12-15 inch. Otherwise there will be too many points too close together in your drawing. Please note that the size of the drawing in Pre-Design is NOT related to the final embroidery size. Embroidery size is set later in your embroidery digitizing program.
How do I get the drawing into my Embroidery Digitizing Program?
Once you have finished your drawing in Pre-Design, save it. Then choose one of the available export options in the File menu. See User Guide, chapter Embroidery programs, which export function to use for your program.
Some parts cant be colored in my Drawing.
Pre-Design is an object-based program. In complex drawings it may occur that two objects become one, and cannot be colored separately anymore. Don't spend too much time on it: just copy the drawing to clipboard, paste in Paint and use the fill bucket to fill the drawing in a few seconds. See chapter Color in the User Guide.

In Pre-Design 3 choose menu Help > User Guide (PDF). This PDF file is located in the Pre-Design 3 program folder.
The Magic Circle button is gray and cant be used.
You have to select an object first, then the Magic Circle function can be used to create a circular wreath of the selected object(s). |
