Tutorials by Carolyn Duncan of Sew What Designs

Autodigitizing is a program sold by Husqvarna Viking. There are 4 tutorials for the Autodigitizing program on this page as well as a 'Autodigitizing and Hyperthreading Tips' Freebie . Scroll down to see all the tutorials and to download the Autodigitizing freebie.

Introduction to Autodigitizing (Tutorial 1)

Getting Started with Basic Editing
Converting a Standard Design to an Applique.

This is an introductory tutorial to the Autodigitizing program which is sold by Husqvarna Viking- this software is quite complex so it includes an overview of the icons in the main window, and looks at basic editing and some manual punching tools.  Carolyn has taken a Pfaff openwork design and converted it into an applique design.

Aspects covered include manually creating a line, changing properties, use of the navigation window, sorting and changing colours, importing and exporting designs, editing lines and setting/removing underlay.  It is assumed that those who are using this software have had some experience with other digitizing programs and have some knowledge of basic digitizing concepts.  Also included is an example of how Carolyn used the new applique design in a garment.
Here are some screenshots of the tutorial, which you can see as a preview.

Autodigitizing (Tutorial 2)
Creating Designs from a Cartoon Type Image

This tutorial is full of tips and hints about settings and techniques which make digitizing with this software very fast and easy.   The step-by-step method shows you how to start with a picture of an iris and turn it into a design.

The first section covers the creation of an image to use in the cartoon digitizing process using  Microsoft Paint, a program that is part of any Windows Operating system.  It covers aspects  that will allow you to maximise the advantages of Autodigitizing's amazing Intelligent processor so that minimal editing is required.  The second section covers tools such as the Navigator window, stitch angles and how to globally smooth edges.  The last section covers the evaluation of the finished design from a stitch-out and looks at  techniques for fine tuning the finished design. The tutorial includes a finished design in ASD format so you can see view the settings used for that design.

Here are some screenshots of the tutorial, which you can see as a preview.

Working With Clipart

This is the 3rd tutorial for the Autodigitizing software.  The first section looks at a varitety of images and how they will be treated by the Autodigitizing processor. It shows 3 simple steps that you can do with most graphic packages to make images digitize automatically with excellent results.

Follow Carolyn as she takes two designs from clipart through to the finished design. One has an outline that can be further developed as a redwork design.  This tutorial assumes a working knowledge of Autodigitizing from the previous tutorials. Carolyn covers the editing of column fill elelments in a design, and the elimination of jump stitches.
