Take Home Tutor DVDs

Let Carolyn Duncan and Jo Strong be your “Take Home Teacher”.

Together Carolyn and Jo have had many years of professional sewing and teaching experience and they have combined their numerous skills to bring you these awsome DVD's to help you learn how to use your sewing machine and overlocker from the comfort of your own home.

Carolyn Duncan
Carolyn grew up thinking that kitchen tables were for sewing on in the daytime and eating off at night. As an artist, Carolyn had been working in pastels and watercolors but the medium soon changed to thread when she discovered machine embroidery. After 26 years in the education system involving computing, she is now working as a digitizing teacher and consultant with Pfaff, Husqvarna and Artista software and machines in Hobart, Tasmania.  Carolyn also has many tutorials available for Husqvarna and Pfaff Digitizing Programs, as well as her own website with her embroidery designs Sew What Designs.

Jo Strong
Jo has always had a desire to sew and create.  She did not start like most little girls making “Barbie” clothes, but was more interested in making her own clothes.  In those days paperclips staples and sticky tape were her ‘sewing aides’.  Jo has moved on and these days she indulges in the very best technology and enjoys a wide spectrum of creativity.

As a top graduate from “The "School of Fashion” in 1984 and having a desire to sew for real women, Jo started a home based business straight from college.  Enjoying the challenge, but wishing to diversify, she moved to Melbourne (with her sewing machine in the boot!) and gained a Retail Cadetship at Myer’s flagship store Bourke Street Mall.  Jo enjoyed this work in retail management for several years, until shop trading hours seemed to rule her life and she sought to rediscover her creative soul.

A position as a tutor/consultant at PFAFF Australia gave Jo the tool to drive the inspirations.  As Sales Manager accountable for the southern states (Vic, SA and TAS) Jo had the pleasure of meeting a wide range of artisans including Jenny Haskins, Pauline Rogers, Theta Harp and Martha Pullen.

As family became a priority Jo left PFAFF and worked in dealer shops selling and teaching with a wide variety of brands.
Life has now turned full circle as it often does and Jo was drawn back to the dressmaking business, designing and making for individual clients.  Recently she became re-acquainted with a major European sewing machine manufacturer by sewing samples and creating works for them. (Jo is the designer of the Pfaff Block of the month quilt for 2006)
