Learn how to Embroider on Velvet in 13 easy steps

1.      1.  Hoop "stitch and tear" or water-soluble as stabilizer - which ever work the best for you. Important: Do not wash your velvet designs!!! This collection has 4x4 designs as well as 5x7 designs Stitch first Default color (Appliqué position)

2.  Stitch default color (Material stitched)

3.    3. Cut away excess material, BUT KEEP IN POSITION IN HOOP !!!  Important : Do not cut to close as velvet tend to pull apart once further embroidered.  Reposition hoop into embroidery machine.

4.   Oops!!! Too Close!!!

5.    5.On red velvet I used golden thread and Blue velvet I used silver thread Marathon/3005/Gold Marathon/3004/Silver Finish your embroidery design - all in the hoop!

6.   Cut designs free from stabilizer.

7.   7.  Note all the fringes...not to worry!!!.

8.    Carefully pull "stitch and tear" away from design. Look at the tidy finish! Note : You will have to cut the water-soluble stabilizer away - DO NOT WASH!!

9.    Use a lighter or candle and VERY CAREFULLY the edges will melt away.

10.   Not too close for you will burn the design!

11. See the neat and tidy edges.

12.    All the edges clear from fringes!

13.  Sew the front and back panels with your sewing machine together.  Annemarie used a fine zig-zag stitch.  Remember : You are welcome to use your glue gun.

14.    All ready to hang with your candy cane and gifts in or use for a Christmas decoration.
