Dress Napkin Card Directions
1. Cut a piece of cardstock to 10” by 12”. Score on the “right” side, and fold in half.
2. Hoop a piece of tear-away stabilizer or adhesive stabilizer |
3. Hoop a piece of tear-away stabilizer. You can also use sticky tear-away stabilizer.
4. Apply fabric adhesive or double-sided craft tape to the back of the front flap of the card. If you are using sticky tear-away stabilizer, you can eliminate this step. |
5. Affix paper stabilizer. Do not hoop the paper! Use the hoop template to center the section to be embroidered in the hoop. |
6. Embroider hanger and first sequence (outline of bodice). |
7. Place patterned paper (fabric will work, also) over outline of dress. Gently hold in place while you embroider the next sequence (outline of bodice). |
8. Trim paper or fabric close to the outline of the bodice.
9. Embroider the rest of the design. Trim stabilizer close to the design. |
10. Use an X-Acto knife to cut a slit under the bodice for the napkin or handkerchief to go through.
11. If desired, embroider a corner of the handkerchief. Spread handkerchief flat. Pick it up in the center, and slide center of handkerchief through the slit in the card. |
Suit Napkin Card
Follow instructions for Dress Napkin Card. To fold the handkerchief, lay it flat. Roll two edges to middle. Slide rolled handkerchief through slit under suit jacket until “legs” are the desired length. |
