Hate #7: Screen Eye Candy

Symptom: I bought this really fast computer and I sit drumming my fingers on the desk while windows fade in and out of view.

Solution: Turn off this "feature" and have windows snap into view.

In Windows XP, right-click the desktop, choose Properties, click the Appearance tab, and click the Effects button (see above). Now uncheck the "Use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips" box. Faster now?
