Grand Hoop Tutorial

This tutorial is for Pfaff 2140/44/70 owners with the Grand Hoop and the 3D File Assistant software. It does not need any other software other than the 3D File assistant that comes with the Grand Hoop.

The tutorial covers how to set up the hoop correctly and the whys and hows of ESQ and EMB files. For anyone who is confused by these terms all is explained. There aren't any design files in this tutorial as when it is completed customers will be able to make endless combinations of designs for the Grand Hoop. The tutorial covers how to use the 2140/44/70 maxi and embroidery stitches with the new Arching tools to make Grand Hoop size designs.

There are three files included with the tutorial which, when separately loaded onto the 2140/44/70 with 3D File Assistant (will not work with VIP File Assistant), will turn the sewing machine into a video recorder and replay the steps in the tutorial in sequence right on your sewing machine - just as if I was sitting next to you!!. This is the feature called demo mode. Although this tutorial and the demo's are for the Grand Hoop the theory will apply to all hoops.

You will be able to combine designs like this with this tutorial.

Demo's need version 01.03.04 / 20.12.2004 and the 3D File Assistant. Grand Hoop is not necessary for the demos.

Note this tutorial does not cover the 3D or VIP software aspects of designing for the Grand Hoop - this is to be covered in a separate tutorial.

Fitting Designs into the Grand Hoop

Step by step description of how to cut existing designs that are too large for the Pfaff large hoop so that they fit into the Grand Hoop. Two examples are described showing how you can use the editing features in 3D Artist to split and recombine designs. The first example is a relatively easy design to split as it has elements that are spaced apart. The second example is a large floral design with a detailed outline. This design is split with the 3D artist and recombined in the Grand Hoop with images of both the stages in the software and actual stitch outs of the process.
