Every morning Slavani got the fire started for his mother. He made himself a fan from feathers to help him keep the fire going. He climbed into a big tree to look over the bushes to see where all his animal friends were. He saw a very colorful thing moving in his direction. From behind a tree came his father's friend with the most beautiful feathered crown. "Good morning, Uncle Jim, you almost gave me a fright." said Slavani. "Morning, Slavani, do you like my crown? I can make you one as well." Uncle Jim said. "Oh thank you, I would love to have one like yours." Jim helped Slavani down from the tree and said: "Slavani, today we must decide who will be the king of the animals. Please gather the ones you think would be the most suitable."
Slavani went to elephant. "Elephant, you are so strong. I believe your strength would make you fit for a king. Please wait at the tree over there, while I gather the rest." Slavani then walked on to where
"Rhino!" Slavani called. Rhino turned back, stumbled with his feet, lifted his head, showing off with the horn on his nose. Slavani laughed with joy. "Oh, Rhino, your humor sure makes you fit to be the king." Can you guess who won the vote and why? Yes, Lion did, because with love in your heart, you will always have the strength, the patience, the calmness and the humor. Slavani's eldest sister gave him a hug and said: "Slavani, you sure picked five great animals. From now on they will be known as the Big Five of Africa. That was such a great day in Slavani's life. He ran down to the river to share the great news with all the water animals.
Along with these embroidery designs you will also receive a zip file which contains a PDF (Acrobat Reader) version of this story. If you print it out in color, and cut the A4 sheets in half, you can then staple it down the side and make a very cute 12 page booklet for a child. |
