Our Images are all Protected.
Some of the images on the Secrets of Embroidery website are protected to prevent illegal Internet practices. Some web site operators steal images from other sites by linking to them directly from their site. When this occurs, not only is the image used without permission, but the operator of the original site also has to pay bandwidth charges as their web server is still delivering the image. For a high-traffic site like Secrets, the largest operating expense is the bandwidth charge, so protective measures are often a necessity. We also need to protect the copyright of our designers.
Please contact us if you have purchased designs and require pictures of them for stitching out.
Do you have a Firewall?
If you are running a personal firewall, you may be unable to see our images. There are 2 methods to correct this:
Temporarily disable your firewall, although this is not recommended as you may forget to turn it back on.
Add www.secretsof.com – our server from where protected images are served – to your "trusted sites list". Adding us to your list of "Trusted Sites" will fix the problem. You only have to do this once. If you are using one of the Firewalls listed below, click on it to see how to add Secrets to your list of "Trusted Sites".
Technical Information and Firewalls.
At Secrets of Embroidery, before certain images are shown in your browser, our server checks for an allowed referrer domain. In our case, that domain is secretsof.com and if that is the referrer presented by your browser, the image will be delivered. However, if secretsof.com is not on your ‘allowed list’, then the image will be blocked and you will see a small notification graphic containing our copyright notice.
Secrets of Embroidery also blocks images when no referrer information is presented, which can occur when one is running a personal firewall. Some firewalls and proxy servers deliberately block referrer information to prevent unscrupulous web sites from collecting information about your surfing habits. Other personal firewall software and proxy servers may have the same effect.
However, Secrets of Embroidery does not collect browser information of any kind beyond our general usage logs, so it is safe to allow your referrer information to be sent to us.
